South Carolina Day 4: Myrtle Beach

Updated: Apr 9, 2019

A new sunny day begins with yet another cold start. Literally my weather app even knew it was freezing. This was the weather we escaped in Wisconsin but I guess we brought it down South with us for a couple days.

Naturally, because this would've been the first store we've seen since we were kids, we stopped at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts for our morning breakfast and coffee. We slept through our hotel breakfast once again and thought this was a suitable switch. I had gone to one a few years back up in North Carolina with my dad and loved it. So I was hoping for the same experience here. Down in Myrtle they had TWO shops. Why can't Minnesota or Wisconsin have just one!

I'm hungry just looking at it!

After many efforts, I finally got a cute picture of him eating his doughnut and all dressed in uniform!

We had A LOT in store for us this evening with the group so Alex and I decided to check out the boardwalk before we regroup with them. We enjoyed checking out the various shops along the water and even stopped in and tried some memorabilia on.

OK. So maybe it was just Alex that wanted to try on some things but we still had a blast and even fed some feed to the fish and ducks lurking in the water. That was a sight to see as the fish basically knew the drill and were ready with mouths wide open waiting for some food to land in the mouth. It was unlike anything I've ever seen before about fish flopping on top of one another to get food and the ducks all intertwined with them fighting for the same thing. Even the pigeons wanted some up on land and we stopped feeding them once it got out of hand. It amused ourselves for a bit till we got hungry ourselves.

We had someone give us some coupons for restaurants around town and we decided to pick up the kids and head to Dicks Last Resort for some appetizers and laughs. When we arrived, it wasn't busy at all and so we got seated quickly and scoped out the place reading other peoples hats and checking out all the knick knacks scattered around the interior. We ordered our food and patiently waited for our hats to come. Alex and I ordered a sampler appetizer with an entree of bacon mac n cheese which filled us right up. Kallie and Sarah shared the same sampler platter, but still we waited for our hats.

It wasn't until we were starting to finish up our meals and get our bills that Kallie was the first to receive a hat.

Slowly after Kallie, Sarah's arrived and I was in tears from laughing so hard. Alex got his and mine was last. We all were laughing so hard we almost forgot we still needed to pay for our meals.

CLARIFICATION: NOT TRUE

CLARIFICATION 2.0: NOT TRUE

We headed back to the hotel to get ready to go out to a Piano Bar with the group. Kallie and Sarah stayed behind and enjoyed the beach while Alex and I picked everyone up and headed back to the boardwalk! I was super excited to check out this bar, it was called Crocodile Rocks Dueling Pianos. I have heard about my parents experiences going to them and it totally seemed like my scene so I had good expectations walking in. We had reservations for the main floor and a table right next to the stage. Alex and I got ID at the door and proudly wore our black X's on our hands since we couldn't get served at the bar but I was there more so for the music anyways!

Underage kids unite!

Their set was amazing, they played all the classics and only took song recommendations. I was amazed with how many different songs and artists they knew and played it so well on the piano. They didn't reject a single song because they knew them! We enjoyed a night of music for a couple hours till some wanted to head back to Westgate and play some games there while others were going to check out the bars in town. Alex and I drove some people back and then changed at our hotel into comfy clothes for a relaxed evening.

We walked over to Westgate and met up with everyone who already had drinks ready for us. We played a lot of rounds of cards and even had the security men play a couple rounds too. We even met up with the guys who went out to the bars and heard about their crazy night. It was all fun until we were getting hungry and tired and needed to walk back to the hotel still. So Alex and I did so, said our goodbyes and made it back to the hotel making our Mac n Cheese and hitting the hay, awaiting the next days adventure.

Decided to match with our new shirts.
