Day 18-19: London, United Kingdom

THE TIME IS HERE!! Our first weekend getaway to A NEW COUNTRY!!! If going to Scotland wasn't enough for me (and it wasn't) I was heading just south of them - UK baby! I was looking forward to London the most for many reasons. One: my grandma has visited here before and told me plenty about it and how it was one of her favorites. Plus my boyfriend has been there and I am a huge fan of many great artists that came from UK so overall ready to explore the city.

We had a minor freak out as we almost were late to the airport and missing our flight because at the house the fire alarms went off and we couldn't go back into the house until the fire department came and walked through the house to see who set off the alarms. A good 30 minutes later we are on our way (finally) to the airport. Rushing through security and the terminal we finally make it to our flight. It was really a quick one but 'thankfully' was delayed an hour because of weather down in London. So we caught up on sleep or watched a movie to pass time and arrived in London by early evening.

Our first battle was figuring out how to get to our Airbnb and how to do the Tube. We had friends already at the Airbnb from the house that were waiting for us all day (since they had an earlier flight) so they were anxious to see us. Thankfully though they helped us with the stress of figuring out the tube and we got to our place in about an hour or so. Hungry, we made food and passed out on a hot summers night. Our place had no A/C so we sweated to sleep.

The next day was our full day in London and that was the only day we had to see EVERYTHING. How do you fit in all of London's beautiful sights, quickly and efficiently and knowing where you are going (this was one of our better sight seeing trips that we accomplished in one day). One of our friends, Alyssa, had other friends there already so we met up with them and they were our tour guides for the day and basically knew the ins and outs of the city.

We visited the London Eye, Big Ben (which was sadly under construction as was the rest of the city), Westminsters Abbey, St. Paul's Cathedral, The Imperial War Museum, Buckingham Palace, The National Gallery - London, and Neal's yard in Covent Garden.

The next day we had a good portion of the morning to visit some places before our flight out, so we decided to check out Camden Market. If you don't know what it is it's a place where you can buy 'luxury' items for a cheap price. Bargain if you will - super sketchy and I wouldn't go back there...but we had to break time.

We took the tube back to the airport and made it on our flight ON TIME. But stormy weather was brewing so we took caution the flight back and actually had a rough landing in Edinburgh. We had to wait over a half hour for a bus to Dalkeith in the windy night and didn't get back to the house till midnight. Needless to say we were drained from the day of traveling and were ready for bed.
