Day 15-16: National Museum of Scotland | Dalkeith Grounds

On this day we are vsiting another famous museum - National Museum of Scotland. This place was a history, science, and art museum all in one. So we had a lot of ground to cover in one day. It started off as any other field trip day at the castle with breakfast and our bus ride to the city. We started this day a bit earlier than others because of how big the museum was.

The same criteria follows with our homework assignments (and I would like to note for further posts - it will be more photos than writing for our field trips because I believe the photos speak for themselves and we had free range to explore the museums). If anyone ever gets the chance to travel to Scotland or any of the places I've been, I write about these museums as places to go see for yourself and immerse yourself in them and get lost in time for the day. Experiencing them this way made more sense to me - so I hope you enjoy.

The noteworthy artist of this day was Andy Goldsworthy - a landscape artists well known in Scotland for creating pieces to put in their galleries- and one of my favorite artists we learned about. Later posts will recognize him again.

The next day - after class - we had time to walk the grounds of the castle and visit the 800 year old oak trees. As a class we all set out for the hike - thankful the rain held off for us - and learned more about Dalkeith and the history wrapped up here. What I found unique from it was every tree had a tag on it - keeping count of how many ancient trees there are and which ones are newer.
