After breakfast at the hotel we headed over to Lake Powell for a boat tour around Glen and Antelope Canyon. The rain storms were still on us but thankfully it was a light rain, enough to stay outside with a raincoat and enjoy the tour.
As we drove in, we were greeted by the Lake and huge house boats that will stay on the lake for the season. We parked and checked in for the tour, and enjoyed some coffee as we waited for our boat. We got a complimentary photo from the guides against the lake and boarded taking our seats and listening to a introduction of the tour. We were also greeted with another rains storm and headed out on the water.
It was a relaxing boat tour to say the least, and the ambiance of the soft rain and the vast neutral colors of the canyons was beautiful to see. The tour itself lasted about an hour the headphone tour guide we had plugged in told us all about the canyons were formed and how some of the rock that jut out in the distance were locations of movie sets. I was happy to hear the Lone Ranger film with Johnny Depp was filmed partially here and he is my favorite actor. The whole time we were on the lake I felt a calm inside me and enjoyed every bit of it.
After our boat tour, we had one more stop before we headed back to Prescott. Horseshoe Bend was my most thrilling sight we saw on our trip and it did not disappoint. The sky cleared up and sun awoke the day and ourselves to embark on the half hour hike to the bend. We passed numerous families and dogs all wanted to get a glimpse of the bend and enjoy the small warmth the new day brought us. When we arrived, we caught our breath just to have it snatched from us again and we stood as mere dots against the vast bend and took it all in. There was no rail along the cliff's edge so view down at your own risk. My parents sure had miniature heart attacks as their daughters would go to the edge and take pictures. We passed a couple by the edge and the girlfriend's shoe slipped on the still wet dirt and nearly caused everyone to stop and gasp at the same time. Scared the crap out of us, but nervously laughed it off and continued on. But needless to say my parents were ready to leave after that.
As the day was unwinding, we drove back to Prescott tired from yet another big adventure and enjoyed the once shadowed mountains and took init's full expansive glory. We stopped at Lumber Yard Brewing Company in Flagstaff, AZ for drinks and appetizers to hold us over for the final stretch of our trip back.
I just about finished my crossword booklet as we arrived home and ended our day relaxing on the back porch of my aunt's home. Taking in the past couple of days. I simply couldn't believe how lucky we are to live in a world with beauty surrounding us. It really makes you thankful for everything.
